- Developed lab-on-printed circuit board(PCB) based water harvesting condensation particle counter for ubiquitous monitoring of airborne ultrafine particles(2021. 11. 05) Professor Yong-Jun Kim's research team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering used Lab-on-PCB (Printed Circuit Board) technology for the measurement of airborne nanoparticles, and integrated the functions of elements necessary for water droplet growth in a single chip. Therefore, the CPC (condensation particle counter) was remarkably miniaturized/low cost, which made it possible to mass-produce as well as portable devices. The Lab-on-PCB-based CPC was able to grow even 10 nm-sized nanoparticles into water droplets, proving that high-precision monitoring of nanoparticles with accuracy comparable to commercial CPC is possible. In recognition of the excellence of this research, it was awarded the best paper award in the oral section at the Korean Society of Indoor Environment in 2021, and was published in the Journal of Aerosol Science (IF: 3.433). - Overcoming Ion Hybrid Capacitor Limitations Review Study (2021.11.01)
- Overcoming Ion Hybrid Capacitor Limitations Review Study Professor Seong Chan Jun's research team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering published a review paper on carbonaceous anode materials. Na and K ion hybrid capacitors, which are currently attracting attention for their low cost, high energy density and power density, and excellent stability, have limitations in slow reaction rate due to low reliability of the material used as anode. This research team reviewed the use of carbonaceous anode materials with high ion storage potential in capacitors to solve these limitations, and the results of this study were published in ACS Energy Letters (IF: 23.101) in recognition of their excellence. - Developent of localizing rattle noise source methodology using machine learning algorithm (2021.9.25)
- Developent of localizing rattle noise source methodology using machine learning algorithm Professor No-cheol Park's in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and his research team have developed a methodology to localize the relative location of the rattle noise sources underbody of the vehicle using the signal measured using several accelerometers. Through this study, It became possible to quantitaively determine the relative location of the rattle noise source based on the measurement locations. The rattle-induced acceleration signals were clustered using machine learning algorithms with the accuracy of the BSR expert level in the vehicel underbody. The proposed method is based only on the transmission characteristics of and rattle-induced acceleration signals measured in the driving test, and It can be used widely regardless of vehicle type. In recognition of the excellent of research results, this study was published in the international academic journal Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (Impact factor: 6.823, 2020 JCR, top 1.52%).

- Development of highly sensitive H2 sensor based on functionalized nanomaterials (2021.09.20)
- Development of highly sensitive H2 sensor based on functionalized nanomaterials Through collaborated work between Professor Jongbaeg Kim's lab in mechanical engineering and Seoul university of science and technology, highly sensitive hydrogen sensor was developed and was published in 'Applied Surface Science' journal which is ranked on top in material science, coating & film category. A new clean energy source candidate Hydrogen requires development of highly sensitivce hydrogen sensor that is capable of low concentration sensing in order to prevent leak induced explosion. Developed sensor exhibits higher sensitivity through even atomic layer deposition of Pt nanoparticles on functionalized MoS2. The Link: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsusc.2021.151256

- Microfluidic chip for rapid and selective isolation of tumor-derived extracellular vesicles for early diagnosis and metastatic risk evaluation of breast cancer (2021. 07. 09) Professor Hyo-Il Jung's research team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has developed a microfluidic chip that can separate and concentrate two types of cancer-derived extracellular vesicles within 7 minutes. The diagnostic sensitivity of the existing biomarker-based early breast cancer detection in blood was about 23-30%, but when the chip developed in this study was used, the diagnostic sensitivity was increased to 90%. The chip could be extended as a powerful clinical tool for the analysis of various diseases besides cancer. This study was published online on July 9, 2021, in the international scientific journal Biosensors and Bioelectronics (Impact factor: 10.618, 2020 JCR, top 3.01%).
